Word processor freezing when nunber of citations gets too large

When I have cited over 10 items, any time I add one more citation, the Microsoft word processor would freeze for as long as 2 minutes, during which I can do anything. It looks like word is communicating and refreshing the citation and bibliography information with Zotero, is there any way to avoid such long waitings?

    The certainly shouldn't happen with 10 citations.

    What OS and exact Word version?

    Can you provide a Debug ID for an operation that's slow?
