Zotero / MS Word for Mac: Citation style cannot be found

When attempting to use Zotero now with MS Word for Mac 16.46 I get a pop-up that says: "The citation style://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-fullnote-bibliography could not be found."

This renders Zotero useless. It will not work at all.

Solutions?
  • The document you're working with somehow got its metadata corrupt. Debugging broken documents instructions should help you fix this, most likely by copying the the document text to a new one.
  • Thank you admasven...tried that but it hasn't helped.
  • Are you saying you got the same error message in the new document? That's pretty unlikely, unless this also happens for you in a completely new, empty document (which would also be very strange).

If you're getting some other error, let us know what it is.
  • Thanks dstillman. I appreciate these responses. But yes, that is what I am saying. I get the same error message in a new document, in a duplicated document, and in a document into which I copy and paste material from the original document. It says:
"The citation style://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-fullnote-bibliography could not be found."

And when I would go to Zotero preferences, style manager, nothing was listed. However, as I was writing this reply to you, I checked the style manager again, and after about one minute, suddenly the original slate of styles popped up.

Maybe that was the issue? I will try Zotero again right now and let you know.
  • Were you using a style that you modified yourself?
  • Apparently that was the issue! It's working again!! I have no idea why the slate of styles disappeared yesterday. It was missing all day and now has suddenly reappeared.
  • I had not modified the style. I was using Chicago 17th Edition (full note with Ibid.)
