Zotero not showing up in Word Ribbon on Mac

Hi,
I have tried everything suggested in the troubleshooting section and still can't get zotero to show up in Word ribbon. I have manually installed it, I have turned off security software, I am not running as an administrator, I have turned my computer on and off several times. I am running the latest version of Zotero and Word 16.46. I am about to give up. Any thing else I can try?

    If you open Zotero.dotm manually does the Zotero tab show up (this is just a troubleshooting step, you cannot and shouldn't work with Zotero by opening that file)? Did you check what your Word startup folder is set to? What is it? Did you place the Zotero.dotm file there?

    I did see the Zotero.dotm file and trying to open it up did nothing. I did manually copy it to the Word startup folder and after that did not work, I found that the startup was going to some other file other than the default (even tho it did not show anything was there. ) I clicked on the empty space and it took me to some other file, which was not the zotero.dotm file . So I deleted that file and redid everything and that fixed it !!! thank you for your response !

    You should make sure that Word startup location is set to its default as described in the Zotero word processor plugin manual installation instructions, otherwise you might not get plugin updates in the future.
