Library is stuck on loading and importing will not work.

Hello.
I have used Zotero very successfully in the past 6 months. However, in the last 2 months when I went back on it, it will not work at all. I have a Mac Air 2020 as well.

When I open the app, it takes a while to load the main screen of the library and introducing Zotero. But when I press library or any of the tabs it gets stuck on a loading screen and does not let me do anything else. Here is the Debug ID: D943922089

Then, I try to move past it and import a RIS form to Zotero from Safari which pops up to a thing that says "open" like normal but then nothing happens. Here the Debug ID for that: D1673159388

I will say that I had quite a few files that I frequently downloading, however I would immediately delete after they were downloading to my desktop. I even deleted those from my desktop thinking perhaps it was my computer slowing it down. So, both my Zotero library and my desktop should be empty of files. I also updated my Mac to the MacOS Big Sur recently thinking that might help and also checked for updates on Zotero itself. I seem to be stuck.

  • That's not for Zotero startup. You need to use "Restart with Logging Enabled…".

    But this also doesn't seem to show a problem. It shows Zotero having started up in 35 seconds.

    What exactly are you seeing on screen?

  • You're submitting that too early — it's just in the middle of loading.

    If there's a problem starting up, let it go for at least 10 minutes without touching anything in Zotero before submitting.
