Safari 14.0.03 Connector

So do I understand correctly that Zotero is in conversations with Mac and has not released a connector for versions of Safari greater than 13.0 or higher?

And will do so once it is stable?

So in the meantime we could use the connector for chrome or firefox, but they are glitchy?

Would I have to be using those browsers in order to use there connectors?

So in the meantime do I need to download RIS and Export PDF's manually in order to collect research into my library?
  • No, none of that is correct. I'm not sure why you think any of this.

    Read through Safari Compatibility carefully.

A beta version of the Zotero Connector for Safari 13 and up is available, but there's a bug with updates that requires delete and redownloading the Zotero beta app.

If you're not comfortable performing that extra step, or running beta software in general, you should use the Zotero Connector for Chrome or Firefox. Those are better in every way than the Safari version, since those browsers have better extension frameworks.

You certainly don't need to download RIS and export PDFs manually to use Zotero.
  • Thanks, well when I was on Zotero's site for the beta plug in it just reloaded the app. So I couldn't find the connector. To clarify, this was the icon next to the address window that you could press and it would automatically download the citation and file.

I don't know what you mean by that, but this is some sort of misunderstanding. When using Safari, the download link for the Zotero Connector on the download page takes you to the support page above, which explains the current situation, with information about downloading the beta version of the Zotero app, which includes the extension. Safari no longer supports direct installation of extensions from the browser.

In any case, I would recommend using the Zotero Connector for Chrome or Firefox instead.
