author suffix

Okay, I feel like an idiot but can't find this anywhere in the forums or knowledge base. How do you add a suffix to an author? As in George B. Sowerby II, or George B. Sowerby Jr.?
If I try to add it as a single name, it sorts on II or Jr., not the author's last name.
Needless to say, I'm new at this but I've spent hours trying to figure this out.

That's barely documented, so certainly don't blame yourself. You'd add this to the first name, so
Sowerby, George B., Jr.
