can not create bibliography

I can not create a bibliography, and the software does not let me know why.
The software is processing and processing, and then it hangs itself.

What I try to do
- I want to create a bibliography from a collection
- I right-click the appropriate folder
- I choose: "create a bibliography from items"
- I select citation style, output mode & method

What happens
- Now the processor starts to work and ends in hanging itself
- I can still close the program manually.
- If I do so, a notification pops-up: "Zotero does not react"
- in the pop-up window I can choose either: "Close program" or "Wait for the program to respond"

What did I do so far to fix the issue
→ I already uninstalled and installed the app again - but it still does not work.
→ it is only a problem that occurs for a single library/ collection. I tested to create a bibliography for other collections and that wasn't an issue.

In case you have an idea,
1.) What is the problem
2. and how I can solve the issue, pls let me know. :)

    How many items in the collection?

    If you select only some items in the collection, does it still happen? Can you narrow down the set of items by halves until you find a single item, or the smallest set of items, that causes it?

    Can you provide a Report ID?

    Does this happen with any citation style?

  • How large (i.e. how many items) is the collection in question?
    Does the same thing happen when your select all (ctrl+a) in the middle panel and then do right-click --> create bibliography?

    Here are my answers @dstillman :

    - Number of items in the collection: 91

    - A random sample showed the following:
    26 entries I can convert into a bibliography at once.
    With 39 entries the described problem occurs.

    - The problem always occurs with the last 24 entries, no matter how many entries I want to convert.

    _ I can not access the report, as I can not navigate within the software after the problem occurs.

    - Yes the problem occurs with other citation styles, as well.

    So do what I say — cut it down in halves until you find the smallest selection that causes the problem, ideally a single item.

    We need a Report ID one way or another. It can be at startup if need be.

    Where exactly do I find the report ID?
    The instructions say: "If you're experiencing a problem, before restarting Zotero, open the Help menu in Zotero and select “Report Errors…”."
    Where is the "help menu"?

  • The menu labeled “Help” at the top of the Zotero window on Windows or the top of your screen on Mac.

    There was one item that caused the issue. At least after deleting it, all works again.

  • Is the item still in your trash? If so, can you export it to Zotero RDF with files and notes, zip the output directory, and email it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?

    91 items.

    @adamsmith, yes, the same problem occurred, when I did, as you described.
    However, I found an item, that caused the issue.
    So, it is fixed. :)
