I was asked by Zotero to add an entry here with the above bug id. I just opened Zotero. I think the problem is that my data file resides in a Dropbox folder. It is probably "touched" by Zotero, Dropbox wants to update it, and then the file is not available for Zotero for a fraction of time as it is updated to the cloud.
Other software has this problem sometimes, so it is not a surprise.

adamsmithYou most definitely do not want to place your data directory into Dropbox -- Zotero should also display a warning when you do, did it not? There's a very good chance you'll permanently damage and corrupt your Zotero database that way.
