edit style to include referenced page number

edited December 21, 2020
I am needing the referenced page number to appear in the in-text citation. I'm using this downloaded citations style: Theoretical Medicine and Bioethics. Its parent is "Springer - Humanities (numeric, brackets)". So, I need the referenced article and page number to appear as such, [1, p. 207] or [1, pp. 207-208]. The basic user guide for the CSL editor doesn't give enough guidance here. It may be a complicated task?

I tried to add a page number variable, but that just added the page numbers for the journal article, not the specific page I have referenced. I'm guessing it has to do with adding something about a locator and a label (for p. and pp.). I've tried a few combinations, but it hasn't worked out. Any guidance?
  • it's locator, not page that you want for the pinpoint page(s) in the text, and I think that'll be all you need to make your edit work.
  • You're right. I had to do several things. Under "layout" I have:
Group (with a comma and space as a delimiter)
    --citation-number (variable)
    --Group
----locator (label) (this has a contextual plural in a short form with a space as a suffix)
    ----locator (variable)

I think all of that did what I needed it to do.

    Thanks!
