Transferring Libraries from One Account to Another

I have recently made a mistake I'm not sure how to fix. I just realized that I was logged in to a Zotero account through my downloaded application with an old account I had created years ago linked to a work email address that I no longer have access to. I was noticing that my web library was not syncing up with my library in my downloaded application. I realized then that I had two accounts and decided to export my library with my old email account as an RDF file to save and import once I had synced my application with my current email. I then realized that I can't import RDF files to different Zotero accounts and now I can't log in to my other account to retrieve my library because I can't remember my password and don't have access to the email account to set up a new one? Any suggestions?
  • You can certainly import RDF files into another account's library — in Zotero, not online — but you generally shouldn't to use export/import for your own data. That'll break citations in existing Word processor documents and reset all Date Added values.

Is there data in both accounts you want to keep? Because we can just help restore your access to the old account if you email us at support@zotero.org.
  • Thanks so much! I will email that account now!
