zotero 5.0 vs zotero connector

Been away from Zotero for a while but would like to restart using it.

What are the bullet-point differences between Zotero 5.0 and Zotero Connector?

Any reason I should use both or just one of them?

    You need both.

    Zotero is now always a standalone app, separate from your browser (this was due to changes in Firefox forcing it, but it has had a lot of benefits since then). The Connector is what connects your browser (any of the major ones) to Zotero.
