Dear, @dstillman , I am not sure if this is a suitable addition, but I would like to know if you have suggestions for preventing / resolving "accidents" like this in shared groups. We have several ZOTERO groups that are updated by student assistants at regular intervals, and I am afraid we might not spot issues such as deleted / renamed folders on time before another student adds more data. Are there any "safety nets" (like manual backups?) we can introduce?
You can and should make regular, automated backups of your Zotero data directory, as you would with any important data. You'd want to do that on a computer with auto-sync enabled that was regularly used.
It's possible there could be alternative ways to prevent or recover from this in the future but it's an extremely complicated problem given the complexity of Zotero's data model.
Thanks for your help!
