How to cite Zotero itself (as software)
I'd like to acknowledge Zotero itself in a publication. Might it be a good idea to provide a requested citation somewhere?
CiteAs.org tries to find requested citations for pieces of software (returning structured metadata that can be imported into Zotero, of course :) but it can't find anything for Zotero.
http://citeas.org/cite/zotero
Options include adding file to the repo, including a human readable CITATION, or various machine readable files like CITATION.ccf. Or headers on the html landing page, a citing.html page, DOIs associated with particular phrases and a few others, see http://citeas.org/sources.

bwiernikI’d go with something like Zotero. (2020). Zotero [Computer software]. Corporation for Digital Scholarship. https://Zotero.org (Originally published 2006)
