remove item from collection fails

I can right click and choose remove item from collection, but nothing happens. a sudden problem. D54054834

You have View → "Show Items from Subcollections" enabled and the item isn't actually in the collection you're viewing.

There's an open ticket to disable the remove option when that's the case.
