IEEE with superscripts

I would like to use the IEEE citation style, with the adaptation that the references in the text (i.e. [88]) are superscripted. How does it work?

You'd have to manually edit the style, but it's pretty simple in this case:
Find
<layout delimiter=", ">
<group prefix="[" suffix="]" delimiter=", ">
<text variable="citation-number"/>
<text macro="citation-locator"/>
</group>
</layout>
Change to

<layout delimiter=", " vertical-align="sup">
<group delimiter=", ">
<text variable="citation-number"/>
<text macro="citation-locator"/>
</group>
</layout>
