Request for a freeform notes variable in Extra

Can a variable be added to the processing of the Extra field that allows us to create a note to append to a citation, capturing further information at the researcher's discretion? Something like AppendNote: or a similar label? It would be appended no matter what the Item Type or contents of other fields. I would find this very useful and am hearing from other family history researchers that they need it, as well.

Or is there a method already?

    Extra is already mapped to such a variable: CSL ’note’.

    Most styles don’t include this variable, but, e.g., the APA annotated bibliography style will.
