Sort by file type

I know I can arrange a column (Item type), but i'd like to sort by extension, because i have html, doc, docx, pdf, epub, mobi, azw, azw3...

How to do so?

    found a workaround: sort by item type + keuyword on searchbox "pdf", but it isn't as accurate as a search for file extension.

    In Advanced Search, you can search by Attachment File Type. You could create Saved Searches for each type.

    This is useful, but not any old file extension is available. The file type "document" covers .doc, .docx, .txt, .ppt .... Is there any way to distinguish between them? I want to pick out the .doc or .docx extensions.
