Jurism on new laptop

Hi, i used to use Jurism (after the shift to Jurism from Zotero was suggested to me on this forum by someone in charge!) on my old Mac. And now, I have a new laptop. I want to a) install Jurism on it, b) import my library to his laptop [im guessing this is possible easily since i remember being told that my library is synced online as well] c) and also install the plug-in for my new MS word on my new laptop. Could you please please help? Im a bit tech-challenged!
  • 1. You can install Juris-m from https://juris-m.github.io/ like any other software

    2. This: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/transferring_a_library applies to Juris-m in the exact same way as for Zotero (maybe some folder names say juris-m instead of Zotero

    3. Typically the Word add-on should install automatically with 1.
  • Hey! When I try to install Jurism my mac sends me a pop up saying i can't install it because it can't verify that Jurism doesn't have malware! and then gives me only one option: of moving it to the bin! :/
  • “Jurism” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
  • Hey thanks! it worked somehow this time! also followed step 2 and it worked out. plug in also added itself automatically. Only issue is that i get this pop up sometimes. (This is probably a result of my own tech-backwardness, but any help would be much appreciated!!) ----

This Zotero database was last synced with a different account (“VxxxxVxxxxx”) from the one you are attempting to sync with (“Vvb17”). If you continue, all Zotero libraries associated with the “VxxxxVxxxxxx” account will be removed from this computer.

Before continuing, make sure all data and files you wish to keep have been synced with the “VxxxxVxxxxx” account or you have a backup of your Zotero data directory.
  • Unless there's something different about Juris-M's behavior here, that pretty much means what it says. What's the source of your confusion?
  • I thought the only account I have is vvb17 which is the one I’m using now on this forum. but this message suggests this is not the case, and that I had synced the Zotero database with a diff account i.e. “VxxxxVxxxxx”. and if i don't keep it synced to that it will erase all that data - which obviously scares me, because i want to keep the data.

  • Yes, that means you have two accounts, and you should use the other one for syncing. The account you're posting from is not the account you've ever used for syncing and has no data online.
  • Ah ok, but for that it says invalid username or password! So sorry for being so daft- but i am very stupid/backward in terms of technology
  • You can reset your password, assuming you still have access to the email address associated with the account. If not, email support@zotero.org with details.
  • 1) i have only signed in and communicated from this account ie. vvb17. when i ask for a password change it sends me an email to reset the password for this account.

    2) how can I access the other account? and see which email it was associated with? This may be my institution email which expired 2 years ago, or alliteratively the current one I still do use
  • You need to log out of this account in order to reset the password for the other one.
  • hmm except i didnt even know I had that other account, and don't remember its password. ughhhh sorry!
  • Again, you can reset the password for that account as long as you have access to the email address. You'll know when you try because you'll either get an email or you won't.

If you don't get an email, you'll need to email us with details.
  • on this current email, I'm only getting an email to reset the password for the vvb17 account, so i guess this email is not linked to the other account?

what details apart from my earlier account username do i need to email?
  • All you need to do is enter the username of the account you're trying to regain access to. That will send a reset email to whatever email address is associated with it.

If you don't get an email, email us. We would need the username to start.
  • sent the email to that email ID! Thank you sooo much!
