Word with Zotero Add-In with high CPU usage (constant loading)

Hi, since about two weeks, I am experiencing problems with the Zotero Word Plugin. Basically, some seconds after opening my file, the mouse pointer starts flickering, becomes the "loading circle", and the CPU fan starts spinning.

I have already tried:
1) Updating Word (now on latest version Microsoft 365 16.0.13029.20450).
2) Re-Downloading and replacing the Zotero.dotm File
3) Deactivating and reactivating the Add-In
4) Turning off automatic refresh, unlinking and linking, changing citation style, removing the Table of References

Now I am out of ideas :). Does this problem sound familiar to anyone?

Observation/Workaround: While Word is unusable in "Print Layout", it is borderline usable in "Web Layout".

    Why do you think this is related to Zotero? The Word plugin doesn't do anything while Word is open when you're not interacting with it.

    You should be able to confirm this easily by removing the .dotm file from the Startup folder so that it's gone from Word. Does the problem continue?

    Hi, apparently Zotero was not the problem. I was able to solve the issue by saving the file as a .doc, and then back to .docx - I guess something in the file was corrupted, for whichever reason.
