snapshots open an infinitely-reloading web browser tab

I'm new to Zotero. I've only tried to capture 2 items, but both times, it goes into my library, but then when I "view snapshot," what happens is I'm taken to a web browser tab. Nothing loads, but the pathway in the web browser looks something like this:

file:///Users/myusername/Zotero/storage/NPJEHM3K/file-name.html

And the page seems to be infinitely looping on a reload that never loads.

I'm on MacOS Catalina 10.15.3. Chrome web browser. Any ideas? Did I skip a step or is this a bug?

    That can happen on some websites — Medium is a common example — that depend heavily on scripting after the page has loaded to display the page contents. You'll usually get the same thing if you use "Save Page As…" from Chrome or Firefox on the same page. (Zotero's current snapshot functionality is based on Firefox's implementation of that.)

    We're currently working on a completely new implementation of snapshots that should be much better at saving these sorts of dynamic webpages, to make sure they reflect what you saw when you saved it. That should be available in the Zotero beta soon and in a release version within the next couple months.
