"store citations as" in google docs not working
Hi,
Zotero is an extraordinary tool, and I am so happy to use it in my work.
However I have a problem: when I need to download as docx a document from google docs, the references are not recognized by word. I read here:
https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/moving_documents_between_word_processors
that references have to be changed to "bookmarks" instead of "fields" before switching word processor.
Unfortunately, in the Zotero document preferences, in google docs, there is not the possibility to switch references to bookmarks or fields: simply, those checkboxes are missing, as well as the "store citations as" whole section of the document preferences.
So, What am I doing wrong?
Should I update zotero add-on? I installed it just few months ago.
Thanks in advance
Francesco

thank you for pointing me to the right direction.
I was wrong. Zotero could not refresh the document as it did not recognize the reference style (which is MDPI). I changed it to IEEE and all the process from google docs to word docx went ok.
cheers

The only possible exception is if you were working on the Google Doc on another computer with different styles installed in Zotero and did the "Switch to a Different Word Processor…" on this computer immediately without trying to refresh the document first. I'm not what would happen then.
You are right: my pcs are linux, and to access word documents I use win10 on a virtualbox machine. And Zotero in the virtual machine was not up-to-date for my reference styles (but I was not aware of that untile I realized it, later). When in word, with my document open, I was unable to install MDPI style, as "document properties" in Zotero menu gave me the error about the unknown style, requesting me to switch to another known style in the original document/word processor.
I was able to install the MDPI style only after having opened the document switched in the IEEE style. It is my fault, anyway: I normally am ok with my linux box, but sometime switching to microsoft is needed when collaborating with others.
Thank you again.
