Hi, does anyone know if this service is open source? I would like to incorporate its functionality into an open source tool that I am building...

No, sorry. That service depends on internal server-side parts that are difficult to expose, and it involves logic on both the client and the server.

It's not. Some of the recognizer code used to be open, but it wasn't usable externally because of it's interaction with private Zotero services, and so, to avoid confusion, devs made that repo private.
