Add items in online library

Hi,
Is it possible to add items e.g. by typing in the isbn to the web library using only my browser?

Thank you!
  • Yes, Add Item by Identifier is available in the online library.

thank you! however, i am not talking about the app but the web library. say, i want to add an item in a bookstore via my phone or on a library computer with restricted access etc. as far as i can see, i can only add collections but not individual items. yet, i believe there is a possible workaround for that since there seems to be a safe function which doesn't show in the web version but can be used zotero.org/safe?.… any ideas?
  • Web library offers this functionality. Firstly, please make sure you're on the new version of the web library: if you see "Try the new Web Library" in the header of the web library page, please click that. If you don't see that, you're on the new version.

On desktops, "Add By Identifier" is accessible via "magic wand" icon, similar to the desktop app.

On touch devices you need to open "..." menu in the top-right to see the option. On mobile devices, you need to be in items list view (i.e. either "All Items" or any collection, then "items").

  • Is it possible to add items in the web library by pasting a URL into a form in the web library, and having that URL processed as it would be by the Chrome Connector? (For cases where Chrome Connector can't be installed). Thanks a lot!
  • Yes, Add by Identifier in the web library is the same as the /save page — you can paste any of the identifiers (DOI, ISBN, etc.) that work in the desktop app, or you can paste a URL.

You'll still get better results using the Zotero Connector, which will work on subscription-based pages, will download PDFs and snapshots, etc.
