Same document in OOo and Word
Hi,
is there a way to work on the same document in OOo and Word?
I tried using the Bookmark options, saved as .DOC and both computers are linked to the same library using zotero 2.0b6.5.
ciao

1) If I open a document originally created in OpenOffice, Word 2007 tells me my cursor is not in a citation. After hitting "zotero refresh" and edit again it produces a VB error (run-time 438).
2) Opening a doc document created in Word 2007 with OpenOffice and editing the first citation in the document or refreshing zotero deletes all the text that come before the first citation.
I can reproduces these behaviors, even in minimal sample documents.
2) is probably a side effect of using bookmarks rather than citations. It's easy to accidentally insert text into a bookmark rather than the main document text, and all of the text in the bookmarks gets rewritten upon refresh. In Word 2007, you can follow the instructions here to "Show Bookmark Brackets," which will let you know if you're inserting text into a Zotero bookmark. Unfortunately, OpenOffice.org has no comparable feature.
Ad 2) You are right, this happens because I first entered the citation and than wrote some text in front of it that ended up in the bookmark. It works fine if I enter the citation between two spaces.
Thank you for your fast responses.
You can try Visible Bookmarks extension for OOo. It doesn't work as nicely as the built-in Word feature, but it will give you some indication of where your bookmarks are.
