Zotero 5.0 for Mac vs Zotero Connector

Hi, I wanted some advice as to whether I should download Zotero or Zotero Connector or if it is possible to download both?

Also, I'm using a MacBookPro, and I was wondering if it is safe to download them directly from this website for free as the last time I tried downloading Zotero from here I believe it introduced a virus/bug to my MacBook Pro.

You want to download both. See Adding Items to Zotero to understand how Zotero is meant to be used.

You absolutely did not get a virus from Zotero. If you saw a virus warning pointing to something in your Zotero storage folder, that was something in the code of a webpage you saved, posed almost no risk, and would've been addressed by deleting the attachment from Zotero.
