Citations replaced

[JavaScript Error: "The connection to wss://stream.zotero.org/ has terminated unexpectedly. Some data may have been transferred." {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/streamer.js" line: 155}]

For Zotero 5.0.87 on Mac 10.15.4

Steps to reproduce:

1. Go to insert a citation in the text and you get {citation} and the text box pops up.

2. Decide not to insert this citation by deleting the {citation} in the text.

3. Try to insert a new citation, and follow the full process: find article, select it, and press return as you ordinarily would.

4. You will get an error message saying "Zotero experienced an error updating your document.

Would you like to view troubleshooting instructions?"

But also:

5. The next zotero citation in the text updates as the citation you were trying to insert.

Thanks,

PLC

No, don't touch that — you'll break things. That's a placeholder that goes away when you close the citation dialog. All you need to do is press Esc in the citation dialog.

You shouldn't be interacting with the document at all while the citation dialog is open. If you click behind the citation dialog by accident, you should bring it to the front and close it properly before continuing to work in the document.
  • Ok, thanks. Really appreciate it!
