(ID 63135943) Zotero recognizes wrong paper from a PDF

To replicate:

1. Import this PDF into zotero (e.g. by drag&drop):
http://www.rosalux-nyc.org/wp-content/files_mf/scholz_platformcoop_5.9.2016.pdf

2. Zotero analyzes the PDF document and recognizes it as:
Akerlof, George A. “The Market for ‘Lemons’: Quality Uncertainty and the Market Mechanism.” The Quarterly Journal of Economics 84, no. 3 (August 1970): 488. https://doi.org/10.2307/1879431.

In fact, I did not expect zotero to recognize a PDF "in the wild", which is okay. However, a wrong assignment is a bit irritating and I would like to understand how this can happen - even (or especially) if we may be unable to prevent it.

Thank you very much!
  • That's from the first citation, on the third page.

Generally, misidentifications like this should be quite rare in Zotero, since (unlike some other programs) we're very careful about verifying any extracted identifiers, but in this case our checks don't seem to be sufficient to disqualify the DOI. We'll see what we can do to prevent this.

(You're right that a PDF like this generally wouldn't be recognized.)
