Restoring deleted sub-directory

I have just deleted a whole sub-directory and cannot find it or the files in trash. Unfortunately, I cannot access a backup (don't ask!) so need to re-sync. How do I do that without over-writing the cloud sync. I want to pull from sync to my laptop.

    If this just happened, you should be able to restore from one of your last automatic backups.

    Otherwise, if you haven't yet synced the change and still see the collection in your online library, you can close Zotero and move zotero.sqlite in your Zotero data directory out of the way. When you reopen Zotero and sync, it will confirm that you want to sync to an empty database. Say yes.
