Zotero Connector will not install in Mac Firefox 77.0.1

Refreshed Firefox, Zotero Connector will download but will not install in browser bar. Please advise.

What exactly happens?
There's no such thing as downloading a Firefox extension in Firefox — if you click an XPI, it just asks you whether you want to install it.

The Zotero Connector button appeared in my browser toolbar overnight. This really happened.
