Damaged PDF in Zotero library. How can I retrieve it?

I just tried to retrieved an attached PDF I had stored in Zotero and a message popped up saying it was damaged. I am pretty sure the PDF worked when I saved it there about a year ago. Is there any way I can be assisted in retrieving this PDF? Also, is this something other people have experienced with the Zotero library before?
  • If it actually said it was damaged, that's not a message from Zotero — that's from your PDF reader. Zotero attachments are just regular files on disk, and could get corrupted like any other file on your computer.

    If you use Zotero file syncing, you can try opening it via the web library to see if the synced version is also corrupted or if it was just something that happened in your local filesystem. If that version works, right-clicking on the attachment in your local Zotero, choose Show File, delete the file, and then reopen it from Zotero to redownload it from the web library.
