Upgrade StorageProxy Redirect Claims Success but Fails when opening a link in Chrome from another application

MWE: Open Chrome type www.sciencedirect.com; it is correctly redirected. Open Word, type www.sciencedirect.com and click the link. The page loads, but is not redirected. The banner appears saying it has been redirected. Refresh the page and the redirect correctly works.
Description: When I click a URL in Word or a PDF, it opens in Chrome (my default browser), but the URL loads without being affected by my Zotero proxy preference. Yet after the page loads, the banner appears saying the page was automatically redirected. If I then refresh this page, the proxy successfully redirects.
This behaviour also sometimes (but not always) occurs when I click a URL (in google scholar, for example) and choose "open in new tab" (in Chrome).
