How to permanently delete items from trash

When I first started using Zotero, I accidentally added many duplicate items. As a result, my library was huge. So I've been going through "duplicate" items and deleting the duplicate records/files.
That has resulted in about 2000 items in the trash. It's taking up lots of space.

I don't see a way to select multiple items in the trash for deletion, because all the records are "open". The multiple select of the actual files causes the "delete permanently" button to white-out and disappear.

Any suggestion so that I don't have to go through and hand-select 2000 items?

You can right click on the trash and press "Empty Trash".

Alternatively you can select items you want to remove from the trash (or select all with "cmd+a" on a mac or "ctrl+a" on windows) and press "cmd+left arrow" (again "ctrl+left arrow" on windows) to collapse selected items which will allow deleting selected items with "delete premanently" button (or delete key on your keyboard).
