My Zotero does not work with Google Docs

I have a Chromebook with Google Chrome as the internet browser. I downloaded the Zotero extension, and it is opened, or so the extension shares that it is opened when Google Docs is out, however, every time I try to put a citation in using the Google Docs menu, it gives me a blue pop up saying that it is not open and that I need to troubleshoot. I have done all that it asks me to do, and still nothing seems to help.
