doi Lookup failed: "Zotero could not find a record for the specified identifier"

Zotero was working fine before this but today i tried using the "add items by identifier" function and after a few seconds i get an error message saying:
"Look up failed: Zotero could not find a record for the specified identifier. Please verify the identifier and try again."
any help would be appreciated.
