openoffice writer crashes on adding biblography

when i do the following in openoffice:

1. start a new, empty, unsaved writer document (with default template);
2. add a citation from the zotero toolbar, press ;
3. add bibliography from the zotero toolbar;

open office immediately crashes (its window disappears, application is removed from memory).

a while later, a macos dialog appears:

"soffice quit unexpectedly.
Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple. [Ignore], [Report...], [Reopen]"

• zotero libreoffice integration 5.0.21 (uninstalled from OO extensions, freshly reinstalled from zotero preferences)

    (angle brackets were stripped)

    OpenOffice is no longer support by Zotero (and has not been for years). You should switch to LibreOffice which is the modern and maintained version of OpenOffice
