OOo 3.0: extremely slow saving due to many zotero refs

I'm working on a ~150kb/ 100 pages text only document in open office 3.0, with ca. 100 zotero references. it takes 4min and more to save, even after small changes. this is the message i got from Oo support:

"for each Zotero reference - which is an Internet link - we have to
call the server and it takes time to get all the links!"

is there anything to be done about that? it's extremely annoying, especially as the document is going to get bigger, ca. 200 pages.

thanx for advice,
anna

@annatobt: for each Zotero reference - which is an Internet link - we have to
call the server and yes it takes time to get all the links!

Sum up: document with *massive* online content = slow.
I can't test this in OO at the moment to see if this is actually what's happening, but there's certainly no "online content" in the Zotero Reference Marks that OO should be making network requests for. Zotero embeds some data in the Reference Marks that contains, among other things, URIs that happen to look like zotero.org links, but this shouldn't have anything to do with the OO saving process—it's just embedded data like any other.

So either es is mistaken on that ticket as to the cause of the slowdown or OO is doing something it shouldn't.

may I just say that working on a 100p+ document in Ooo or Word is generally unwise?
I'd strongly recommend separating it into sections/chapters or whatever and putting it to gether in the end.
  • thanx for the advice adamsmith, I guess I'll do that.
@Dan: I've posted your reply at Oo forum, let's see.
