Reference deleted from text remains in the reference list

Hello, I'm using Zotero in Word for Mac and this problem just won't go away. I have even tried creating a completely new document with nothing but a few references in, so that I can be sure there are no remnants of the citation in the text, but the problem persists. Deleted refereneces just remain in the reference list eventhough they have been deleted from the text. I have tried things that you have already advised other users to do and nothing seems to help.
Many thanks for your help!

You need to either press the plugin's Refresh button or insert another citation for the deleted citation to be removed from the bibliography.

You can test this easily in a new document. Just create two citations, insert a bibliography, delete one of the citations, and press Refresh.

If it's not working in an existing document, see Debugging Broken Documents. The easiest thing to try is simply deleting the bibliography and reinserting it.
  • Hi!
Thanks for a speedy response! Refreshing worked only for a shortwhile and then I started getting error messages, but I guess I can always resort to reinserting the bibliography.

    Thanks so much!

There's no need to put up with errors. If there's an error, we'd want to fix it.

If you can reproduce a problem reliably in an existing document, but it works in a new document, follow the debugging steps in full, which will help you isolate the problematic part of the document and send it to us to investigate. We'd also want a Debug ID for triggering the error.
