Unlinked citation after revision

Hello, I am writing my thesis using Zotero for citations. I have uploaded the first version on Google Drive as Google document, to track all the corrections of my colleagues. When I downloaded back the new version with corrections, I realized that all links were lost and they became just characters. Indeed, by adding a new citation, it started from 1 instead of continuing the numeration.
Can you help me to solve this problem please?

Thank you in advance
  • Yes, what you did would absolutely unlink your citations.

See Existing Citations Not Detected. As explained there, when moving documents between Word and Google Docs, there's an extra you need to follow (and the Google Docs plugin will warn you if you try to download a .docx directly without doing the transfer step, as long as you've interacted with Zotero citation since loading the document).

At this point, you would need to edit the citations manually or revert back to a version before you uploaded it to Google Docs.
