Trouble adding citation

I have encountered an error reoccuring all the time. When i try to add a citation in Word or Google docs the program wouldn` t do that. It shows a message that "You must insert a citation before performing this operation". Everything was fine before

What exactly are you clicking? You would get that message if you try to press "Add/Edit Bibliography" when there are no active citations in the document. If you have existing citations and are getting that message when trying to insert a bibliography, see Existing Citations Not Detected.

If your situation is somehow different, please explain.
