Sorting issues citation-label

Hi!

I have customized the DIN 1505-2 (alphanumeric, German) style in order to stick to the ruleset of my university.

I cannot figure out how to sort the bibliography by the alphabetical order of the citation label.

E.g.:

I can't replicate that -- does this also happen with the original DIN1505 style?

yes - also occurs there. Seems like still Author's name is used for sorting (Saito is before Schleich, although citation label Sc13 should be before SM15).

Hmm -- what version of Zotero, what operating system, how are you generating the bibliography?

Zotero 5.0.85 on Win 10. Using Word Plugin

I guess the difference is - I am using the custom field ("Extra" in German) and generate the citation labels there - e.g. citation-label: En20

@dstillman -- I'm seeing different behavior here when using the style editor (in Zotero) versus the bibliography in Word. The style editor does this correctly, including with custom labels in Extra. In a Word document I'm seeing the same issue as above -- although I'm guessing the sort order may be determined not by the actual author but by the automatically generated citation label.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this? Is it possible that the bibliography is sorted before fields from Extra are included in Word?

@adamsmith thx for your help - guess you're right concerning the generated citation labels. Just tried changing the Date without changing my custom citation-label and the sorting was different.

(this is not generally the case at least, though; if I e.g. add an author to an author-less item via Extra it sorts correctly by that author)
