Automatically skip or merge duplicates when importing another library?

Someone has sent me a RIS file of a reference library that I would like to add to one of my own collections. However, there is a considerable number of references in it which are already in my collection. Is there a way of asking Zotero to avoid importing the duplicates or do I need to import them all and then dedupe each pair one by one as normal?

If I can't avoid importing the ones I already have, is there yet a function in Zotero which allows you to merge all duplicate items without having to consider each pair (or triplet in some cases) individually?

Thanks.
  • Unfortunately no on both questions. (I think there may be a scripting solution in an existing thread for the second option, but not sure)
  • I do wish Zotero would solve this. Or to allow duplicate identification by collection.
  • @a.abdul-rahman For your systematic review, you should create a new Group library that is entirely separate from any other libraries.
