Automatically update citations in MS Word

I am using Zotero 5.0.85 with MS Word 2016. Previously when "Automatically update ciations" was checked in "Document Preferences," Zotero would automatically change a footnote when I rearranged my paper. Since the last update it will not only do it when I hit "Refresh." The automatic update feature does not appear to be working. Any suggestions?

    I suspect you're misremembering this. You've always needed to refresh the document after rearranging citations manually. "Automatically update citations" simply determines whether other citations are updated when you insert a new citation, not while moving things around in the document itself.
