Dragging items from My Library to Group Library

I gather from this thread that moving things between individual and group libraries is currently limited, e.g., only individual items (i.e., not collections/subcollections) can be copied between libraries, and that notes, snapshots and other attachments will not be transferred but will have to be recreated from scratch.

Just wondering if expanding this was something in the works.

I'm thinking in terms of using Zotero as a tool for collaborative legal research. What I'd like to be able to do is do my own research on a subject, keeping track of it in 'My Library' as a subcollection, and when its ready to share, drag the entire subcollection item over to the group library for others to access. Sort of like using My Library as a staging area.
  • You are right about dragging collections and subcollections. You can't drag collections or subcollections into a group. You can, however, select all items in a collection (Command +A on a mac) and then drag that selection into a group. It is effectively the same thing, it just takes a few more clicks

You are also right about attachments. Snapshots and other attached files do not transfer when you drag items into a group collection. The principle reason for this is that groups do not currently have file storage associated with them. When group file storage is enabled you will have the ability to carry attachments along with item info when you drag them into groups.
  • There is file storage now, but when you drag an item it does not take the attachments with it. Seems like this should have been fixed with 2.0b7.1 but it is not.
