Trouble Using the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute Citation Style

Hello everyone,

I find this forum super useful and always great at helping me solve issues relating to Zotero. Hope someone can help me:

I am using the "Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute Citation Style” and I copied text which was using another style Chicago (author-date), which was smoothly converted into the numbering system. I was very pleased with that. However, I have one reference which is [49] and it does not show after [48] or before [50. Instead, it is showing for a reference which is right at the end of the document and thus should be [72]. I have tried deleting and adding it again. No success. I have tried deleting it and it is not even disappearing from the bibliography at the end (both after refreshing and after deleting the bibliography and adding it again). Plus when I delete it the system does not refresh and change the numbering. It just stubbornly remains there. I have also tried resetting all references and it does not seem to work.

Furthermore, I have added page numbers to the Zotero window, where it says page number but it does not show in the document.

Those are my two issues.

I hope that someone can help me.

Many thanks.

Aleida.
  • See
    https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/debugging_broken_documents for 1)

For 2) ,most numeric styles like MDPI don't include page numbers in the text even if you provide them.
  • That you for your help.

I will try to follow different steps suggested to see if the problem goes away.

Regarding the page numbers, these are the guidelines:

    Thank you.
  • Right, but those refer to the full page range of the work -- those should be in Zotero, not in the add citation dialog. Or maybe I'm missing something?
  • I thought so too, and indeed that I add when applicable to journal articles but the comments I received were regarding using quotes within the text and not having page numbers. I did add them on the Zotero window but as you said they don’t appear within the text. I will just write to them again to confirm what exactly they want from me and will also let you know if I manage to solve the issue with the chronological order of that reference (gosh, it is just that number 49!!) Thank you very much!
  • So, I started a new document (kind of because I need to keep the same template, so I just deleted all the information and started again) and still there are issues. The one that was [49], now showed as [2] when I added it second just for testing but after number [6], it goes to [11] and so on. I am getting really desperate now, I have never had so many troubles referencing for an article. Do you have any other suggestions?
