Why doesn't a "Thesis" have a year?

See title. ~Seems ridiculous that you can add a thesis item without a year to it.~

You can. What is the exact problem you are experiencing? Use the Thesis type, and then add the year to the Date field, just like any other item type.

(Note that no items have a dedicated "Year" field. Just use Date.)
  • Yes, I realized this just after I submitted the issue, but I couldn't find it again to delete it.

The problem I was experiencing is that bibtex was expecting different field names than zotero was outputting. One thing that still isn't output correctly is that bibtex expects "school" but zotero outputs "institution". This may just be an issue with the style I'm using though.

“school” and “year” are BibTeX. “institution” and “date” are BibLaTeX. It looks you are accidentally exporting to BibLaTeX. Switch to BibTeX instead.
