Hard Drive Crashed

Trying to restore my zotero files to another computer but I keep getting this error message 430743650.
Any ideas what I can do?

What error message? Error reports include multiple things, so you still need to say what exactly you're doing and what's happening.

In any case, moving your old files over is as simple as copying the Zotero data directory to the right place. See Transferring a Library.
  • So I have managed to save some of the data from my hard drive and I want to transfer the data to the new laptop. When I check the Zotero folder on my old hard drive I am seeing some folders (locate, storage, styles and translators), in addition to three zotero.sqlite files. Been trying to import those to zotero but there is an error message "An error occurrd while trying to import selected files. Please ensure that the files are valid and try again."
  • This is the error I sent to the discussion in the first message.
  • Because you don't import those files. See what I said above and the linked instructions.
  • I think this works if you have the old laptop. What I am saying is that my old laptop crashed. So I no longer have the physical (old) laptop but was able to salvage the hard drive from the old laptop. So I want to know how to access the files from the hard drive in order to import them to the new laptop. The approach you are telling me about seems to be based on me having access to the old laptop, if I am not mistaken.
  • This is Option A — copying files. That's all they are. Whether you currently have them on another computer or a backup drive doesn't make a difference.
  • You can see Restoring Your Library from a Backup, which is a little more explicit. The point is just that you're moving the data directory to the default data directory location on the new computer.
  • Thank you very much! This last thread gave me a better understanding of what I should do and it actually worked!
