sync problems zotero 2.0
I have read other discussions on this but still can't solve my problem.
I am a relatively new user of Zotero. I installed 2.0 on my laptop and desktop in late June 2009, then opened a Bingodisk account for file storage/backup and so that I could efficiently sync between the 2 computers. Using the sync function, I successfully transferred files from my laptop to my desktop on July 2, and then proceeded to work mainly on my desktop, creating new files with PDF attachments, and regularly backing up to hard drive, Zotero website, and Bingodisk. However, I now find that if I try to sync the laptop (trying to download from the desktop via Zotero/Bingodisk), the PDF's created on the desktop after July 2 are not able to be opened on the laptop. (I checked, and these files DO appear in my Bingodisk account.) A PDF icon for the relevant image does appear in the correct folder on the laptop, but when I click on it, this message appears: "File not found. The attached file could not be found. It may have been moved or deleted outside of Zotero." So, I checked the Zotero storage folder on the laptop, and sure enough, the PDF in question is not there. In fact, no PDF files in the storage folder of either the laptop or the desktop have been mirror copied onto the other computer since 7/2. (I have also now tried the reverse process, trying to sync from laptop to desktop, and have the identical problem in that direction.)
I did check my preferences settings for sync, and it did not seem that there was anything obviously wrong with the settings (I have the setting on "enable sync", rather than "automatic sync", and just press the sync button when I wish to sync. I have not changed the Bingodisk username or password entered in my Zotero preferences since I originally set up the account and used it successfully at the outset.)
I am wondering whether, as a relative novice to Zotero, I am making some very basic mistake when trying to sync, and just had beginner's luck the first time when a more experienced Zotero user was leaning over my shoulder. However, he and I have reviewed all my processes since I discovered my sync problem and cannot come up with any solution. I did read all the prior discussions re sync and backup, and don't find any obvious answer. I would appreciate help, as I am halting all progress on my research project until I am confident about syncing

Try "Reset File Sync History" in the Sync->Reset pane of the Zotero prefs on one computer and then sync the other. If files from the other computer show up, do a "Reset File Sync History" on the second one as well.
2)While syncing, the green "dial" rotates clockwise for a bit. There is no progress bar that I can see.
3)Before posting my query, I had tried to do a reset full sync. This did not seem to have any effect.
4)On the laptop, which is the computer that currently has the less complete data file, there is no "reset file sync history" within the reset pane. Surprisingly, there IS a "reset file sync history" reset option on the desktop. Why would there be a difference between the 2 computers in this respect? Might I have slightly different versions of Zotero on the laptop and desktop (I believe both are 2.0... which release I'm not sure). How should I proceed?
On the laptop today I found the "reset history" button (in a different locale than on the desktop - I believe the laptop Zotero had it under history, rather than under preferences>sync). Anyhow, I reset the history on the laptop, hit the sync button, and voila, up popped the green status bar, and when that was done, all my files from the desktop had been successfully copied to the laptop. THANKS!!! You are marvelous. Final question - do I have to worry about perhaps having different versions of Zotero on my 2 computers? How would I know, and what would I do about it?
Then just go to the Firefox preferences, Advanced->Update, and make sure "Automatically check for updates to:" "Installed Add-ons" is enabled.
Can't fine Firefox preferences. Where are they?
