Can't delete a faulty citation

My supervisor added some changes to two Zotero citations (both of us use LibreOffice) and when I opened the doc Zotero freaked out about the unexpected changes and asked me what it should do.

I don't remember what I initially clicked (keep the changes or reverse), but now they're buggy as hell.

It seems the citation stays no matter what I do - if I visually delete the characters, no grey area visible, but if I add a space or any other character, the grey area indicating the citation appears again.

The citation also duplicates itself after each "Refresh" (zotero toolbar), so now it looks like this:

(Guy 2009)(Guy 2009)(Guy 2009)

Could anyone help me?
  • Try copying and pasting the document text into a new document. If that doesn't help you'll have to fully remove and reinsert the broken citations. When removing them highlight the citation text along with an extra character on either side of them which should remove them properly.
