Trash emptying problems with Zotero 2.0b6.3

I was unable to synchronise my database with the Zotero store when I was using Zotero 2.0b6.2. It was suggested that the problem lay with notes huge 'image' files - generated when I wanted to save individual diagrams from pdf files as notes. I went through my database and deleted all such files, but failed when trying to remove them from the Trash folder before attempting synchronization. I have now upgraded to Zotero 2.0b6.3, and have successfully upgraded the database. However, on inspection, the Trash folder is still full of all the files which I thought I had removed from the database prior to the Zotero upgrade.
I went to the Trash folder, clicked on Empty Trash, got the normal warning about permanent deletion and did I want to go ahead, went ahead, and nothing appeared to happen - the Trash folder still showed the same files as before. However, as soon as I went to another folder in the database, I got a message in the central panel of the Zotero window saying that 'An error has occurred. Please restart Firefox', and suggesting that this error be reported to you. I have sent such a report (Report ID: 2118574088), and note that it contains the Script Stack overflow error I have had before when synchronizing (or attempting to). I restarted Firefox, tried again, with the same effect. The error message sent is in fact the cumulative error message for those two attempts. If I cannot delete the massive files which appear to cause the synchronisation problem by that route, what can I do to tackle this problem?
