How to copy a bibliography across documents?

I was working on a draft paper in word, but now I have to publish the article and use a given template. I can't copy bibliographies across documents, do I have to manually add all documents one by one again?

The bibliography is just generated from the citations in the document. If you copy a citation, it will be added to the bibliography generated in the second document.
